About Lesson

Process of Communication

Communication undergoes a series of steps before it is usefully interpreted.

The process of communication is fascinating and involves 6 key steps. Here’s a brief overview:

  1. Sender: The process begins with the sender, who has an idea or message they want to communicate.

  2. Encoding: The sender then converts this idea into a message using words, symbols, or gestures.

  3. Channel: The encoded message is transmitted through a chosen communication channel, such as spoken words, written text, or digital media.

  4. Receiver: The message reaches the receiver, who must interpret or decode it.

  5. Decoding: The receiver interprets the sender’s message, translating the symbols, words, or gestures back into a meaningful idea.

  6. Feedback: The receiver provides feedback to the sender to confirm understanding or to continue the communication cycle.
